Dozens of books die untimely deaths on dusty shelves and backroom closets. You know the ones: high-cost school books, gifts from loved ones and friends, great first or unfinished reads. iBookSwap works hard to get these unfortunate souls to motivated readers. Donate. Swap. Or even sell them to us. We work with local literacy programs, local online booksellers, local schools, local retirement homes, local churches, and local libraries. You will not find cheaper prices.
We're open MWF 10am-6pm, and by appointment. If you'd like to make an appointment, contact iBookSwap@gmail.com or 806.741.0678. We've been known to host birthday parties and movie nights.

Many bookstores swap books. But, most work out complicated schemes for doing so that clearly profit the store. We work to profit literacy. Bring a book; take a book. We'll work hard to get the book you bring in into the hands of someone who will read it. And you'll read the book you take. It makes our job easier if your book is in good or very good condition. We're picky about some types of genres because we have found them difficult to find homes. And we've marked books that can be swapped out with a sticker. Most books in the store are swappables. Most books in the store, also, sell for $1. It's common for people to bring in three books and walk out with ten, paying for seven. We welcome donations to help us keep these prices low for readers.
Buy an iBookSwap coffee thermos for $10 and get free coffee every time you return to the store with it! We brew Gevalia coffee from New York. Our coffee goes great with a quirky book and a few fresh donuts from the shop next door.
We like to say we're putting literacy in the center of Lubbock. We're located at 3211 50th Street, behind RadioShack and across the street from Monterey High School. We specialize in multiple media types; you can find DVDs, paperbacks, and hardbacks of various subject areas on the shelves for purchase, swap, or rent. We have recent books as well as books over a 100 years old. Also, we're proud to be a Go Center, and we welcome opportunities to work with people on their reading, writing, and chess.
Go Centers are centers of energy and effort that focus on creating a college-going culture. "College" includes career classes, adult basic education, technical certification, and post-secondary degrees. iBookSwap shares resources and seeks collaborative partnerships for all things literacy.
iBookSwap has a rich section of chess books and supplies. We have the best selection in town. You might be interested in high quality yet inexpensive chess sets, specially weighted wood pieces, chess boards that hang on your wall as living art, or even big chess chess sets with pieces two feet tall for playing in the yard! We sell
PolgarChess products as well. And we help facilitate chess lessons and tournaments.
We sell local-area books as well, such as excellent selections from creative writing faculty in English at Texas Tech. The TTU Department of English hosts a book of the month
discussion club. iBookSwap carries those book selections. Got relatives who need something about Texas? Come on in and buy a new book published by TTU Press, a Texas ice-cube tray, excellent Texas postcards, or other unique items.
Does your favorite movie or game stop playing or skip? We can clean it for $3. Bring it in.
Are you a bookseller? We'd welcome working with you. With our storefront, warehouse, and dynamic database system, we can work with you to sell your books for a modest commission. Contact iBookSwap@gmail.com for more information. Currently, we're working with BookPlanet, SwapTree, BookLiquidator, Daedalus Books, BetterWorldBooks, TTU Press, Amazon, and a number of remainder book sellers.
Support your local bookstore by purchasing a real Christmas tree in December. We can deliver or pick-up if needed. There are some 14,000 potential gifts, too, waiting for your purchase in the store! Give the gift of literacy. Contact iBookSwap@gmail.com for more information about exact dates of tree selling.
